Dan Bongino is an American conservative radio show host, podcast host, frequent television
 political commentator, and New York Times-best-selling author who served as a New York City Police Department (NYPD) officer.

Bongino attended Archbishop Molloy High School. He attended Queens College in the city, where he earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology, and Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a master’s degree in business administration.

During George W. Bush’s second term, Bongino was assigned to the Presidential Protection Division after joining the Secret Service in 1999. After Barack Obama was elected president, he remained on protective duty until May 2011, when he left to run for the United States Senate. Life Inside the Bubble, Bongino’s first book about his career as a Secret Service agent, was released in 2013. The Fight, his second book, was published in January 2016.

He discusses his experiences protecting Presidents Bush and Obama, as well as investigating federal crimes, in it. Former colleagues chastised him for using his Secret Service background in his political campaign and for claiming to have secret information based on conversations he overheard in the Obama White House. In December 2019, he launched the website Bongino Report as an alternative to the conservative website Drudge Report. Fox News announced in May that he would host a new weekend talk show beginning June 5th at 10 p.m. Eastern Time.

In March 2021, Cumulus Media signed Bongina to replace The Rush Limbaugh Show on its own talk radio stations. He has appeared on Fox News’ opinion shows as well as the conspiracy theory website InfoWars. For violating Twitter’s Civic Integrity policy, Bonginos’ Twitter account was temporarily suspended on January 7, 2021.

He denied in August 2020 that his book Exonerated benefited from bulk sales. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he was a vocal opponent of face masks. During the 2020 election, he promoted allegations of voter fraud. During hearings on police brutality, he reportedly told the House Judiciary Committee that efforts to reduce police department funding were an “abomination” that should be dropped “before someone gets hurt.” He was a member of Groundswell, a group of conservative activists dedicated to furthering conservative causes. He also backs Donald Trump’s claims of election fraud.

Bongino announced on September 23, 2020, that a seven-centimeter tumor had been discovered in his throat. He went on to say that he didn’t know whether the tumor was cancerous or benign, but that he would fly to New York on September 25 for further testing. On October 2, he announced that he had received a “bad phone call” from doctors and that he would be having surgery on October 7.

Following his surgery, he tweeted that the “entire tumor” in his neck had been removed, but that he most likely had lymphoma. He stated that he would seek treatment in the future. On October 16, he confirmed that he had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma and that he would continue treatment in consultation with his doctors.
