Dan Miller Biography

Dan Miller is an American sportscaster who is the sports director and anchor on Fox2 Detroit and a radio play-by-play announcer on the Detroit Lions Radio Network.

His dream to be a sports director was from the age of 8 years. He had no idea that he would work in Detroit but as soon as he was old enough to know what sportscasters and play-by-play guys did for a living, he knew that’s what he wanted to make for his life.

He tarmacked for many years until things started falling into place. Along his journey, many people helped him and believed in him. His hard work led him to the Right place, the right time, and some lucky breaks. He feels that they ran through a maze with his wife to be where they are today. He wouldn’t want to do it over because the stars aligned so many times that it wouldn’t ever turn out the same.

It was difficult: when one begins his/her career with everybody saying thanks but no thanks, one never loses that feeling. He has never taken a day for granted or felt entitled in any way and he will never. He wants to be hungry; He wants to stay hungry. So that when one looks at him one sees a guy who is blessed with a couple of great jobs, he looks in the mirror and sees the guy nobody wanted. He works hard so people will never figure out that somehow he sneaked in.

He joined Detroit in 1997 and he still works there though his plan was to be there for two years and then make his triumphant return home to Washington, DC luckilyDetroit became his home. Miller is very thankful to the station for the support and the resources it has given to his department.

He feels Detroit is the best sports city in the country otherwise he would have left the place. The: Fox2, the Lions, the people, and the City have given him every opportunity he would have dreamed of.  He has a lot to say about the place.
