Dana Hughey Biography

Dana Hughey is an American journalist working for KYTX as an anchor of Morning Y’all & The Noon Show. She joined the station in October 2010 as a morning news anchor. Previously, she worked as an anchor and reporter at KLTV for 8 years.

Hughey joined Texas Christian University in 1993 when she finished her high school education. She studied Broadcast Journalism there until 1995, when she transferred to Texas A&M University. In 1997, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism.

One of Hughey’s greatest joys stems from broadcasting stories that are uniquely East Texas through Totally East Texas, like Hawkins FFA students making history, the juicy Jacksonville tomatoes and a festival named in their honor, and Van students fostering kindness through art via social media. She developed a passion for Fit City and Lighten Up East Texas after they launched with the Tyler Paper and NETHealth. She shared triumphant stories of East Texans prioritizing their health and fitness weekly.

As a mother, Hughey has been involved in many Children’s Miracle Network families and volunteers through the CMN Telethon and Celebration. She helps collect money for needy kids in the Special Needs Clinic at Trinity Pediatrics, the ER, or the NICU at Christus TMF. These endeavors have brought her endless joy.

Given that her twin sons spent nearly six months in the NICU, she is deeply devoted to helping the children of East Texas in any way she can, including through sharing stories, volunteering, or emceeing an event for CMN. She is a volunteer MC for Hangars of Hope’s Runway for Hope. She is on the board at All Saints Episcopal School and an MC of the Texas Rose Festival Coronation.
