D’Andre attended Saint Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a senior, D’Andre rushed for 1,564 yards on 149 carries with 25 touchdowns. Swift committed to the University of Georgia to play college football.

As a freshman at Georgia in 2017, D’Andre was the third running back behind future NFL starters Sony Michel and Nick Chubb. On 73 carries, Sony Michel rushed for 597 yards with three touchdowns.

His sophomore year, he split carries fairly evenly with junior Elijah Holyfield, though he was used more often as a receiver. Swift had three consecutive games with over 100 yards rushing in games 8-10 that season, culminating in a career-best 186 yards rushing on 17 carries (including a 77-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter) and four receptions for 43 yards.
