She earned inspiration for broadcasting after watching an NBA on NBC pre-game broadcast by Bob Costas and Hannah Storm. Her TV career began while she was still in high school when she worked for her high school’s 24-hour local channel as a host and presenter between 1995 and 1999.
Further, she partook in three solid statewide championships in swimming, diving, and springboard diving. After graduating, WBTV hired her as a weekend news editor. At the station, she started out as a photographer and convinced the station’s management to let her on-screen.
In August 2006, she started working in the station’s sports department. She had her initial TV appearance at WBTV as a weekend sports anchor in 2007. Further, she served as a host of Sports Saturday Night and co-hosted The Point After with D&D. She left WBTV in 2010.
Trotta said her favorite stories were that of high school athletes overcoming challenges on the playing field and in the local community. After WBTV, she started working for Fox Sports’ Speed where she received a 3-year contract as a reporter on NASCAR Race Hub.
The Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas awarded her for a sports special program dubbed First Class that she contributed to in October 2010. Additionally, she co-presented the ACC Network’s pregame and half-time program, The ACC Blizz.
Moreover, she worked on NASCAR and ACC Football on ESPN 730. In 2012, she started co-hosting and presenting Speed’s coverage of the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Awards Ceremony from Las Vegas. Also, she hosted several specials dedicated to NASCAR, Supercross, and MotoGP events in 2014.
Since 2015, she has worked as the host of NASCAR RaceDay for Xfinity Series races. In 2015, she worked as a sideline reporter for the broadcast of the game between the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns on Fox NFL.
She began working as a host of the “Victory Lap” post-race program for select Cup Series races for NBC Sports’ NASCAR coverage in 2019. In 2022, she hosted 10 unscripted motoring episodes of My Dream Car! on the Fox Business cable news channel.
