Darren Perron Biography
Darren Perron is an American Emmy Award-Winning anchor working for WCAX-TV serving as executive producer and evening anchor at 5, 5:30, and 6 p.m. Previously, he worked for “the Chronicle” as a print reporter.

Perron went to school at Lake Region Union High School and then joined Castleton University where he attained a bachelor’s degree in Mass Media Communications. In 2017, he became a member of the Vermont State Colleges Hall of Fame.

Perron serves as an executive producer and evening anchor at 5, 5:30, and 6 p.m. on WCAX-TV in Burlington. He also works for Gray Television as a correspondent where he brings news across the United States. In addition to this, Darren also hosts a show called “You Can Quote Me” which airs every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. Since he joined the station in 1995, he has covered numerous news including the Red Sox Riot and the Essex School Shootings.
For his work at WCAX-TV, Darren has been honored with multiple awards including the 16 regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, 14 Associated Press Awards, four Emmy Awards, and the National Edward. R. Murrow Award. In 2009, he was the only reporter who won the GLAAD Award and was recognized by NLGJA. On top of this, Perron also won his station a VAB Broadcaster of the Year Award for his coverage of the war in 2010.
Some of his coverage includes Soldier’s Heart, Dirty Secrets, Killer Kids, Silent Struggle, and Battle Behind Bars. Darren also reported the retirement of UVM Basketball Coach Tom Brennan which earned his national attention. In 2010, he together with photographer Lance MacKenzie traveled to Afghanistan for two weeks where they covered the war zone story.
Prior to working at WCAX-TV, Perron worked for “the Chronicle” in Barton, Vermont where he served as a print reporter. He also hosted a series called Mission Afghanistan which won him several awards such as Broadcaster of the Year Award and Emmy Award.
