He grew up in Troy and attended MSU (Go Green!) he got his start in TV in Lansing. Spencer later ventured out to horse country, spending some time in Lexington, Ky. He realized that he was pure Michigan when he took a job that got him closer to home, working in Grand Rapids. Close was just not good enough for him so he is back in the D.
