Deirdre Fitzpatrick Biography

Deirdre Fitzpatrick is an American Emmy-Award-Winning Anchor/Reporter working for KCRA 3 News in Sacramento, California where she serves the station as a Morning Anchor/Reporter/Host since December 1997. She also works as a host for the Dying To Ask Podcast a role she has undertaken since September 2018.

Fitzpatrick works with KCRA 3 News where she serves the stations as a Morning Anchor/Reporter/Host. She states that she has learned to wake up at 2:15 AM and does her hair and makeup by herself which explains a lot about her. Deirdre states that she wakes up and gets to stay awake with a coffee by the pot.

Fitzpatrick joined the KCRA News team on New Year’s Eve of the year 1997. Prior to KCRA 3 News, she was working with KCCI-TV in Des Moines, Iowa.

She began her career at KCRA working as a weekend morning anchor. This was before turning to the weekday morning anchor job and down three times as she couldn’t imagine, “getting up that early for five days a week vs. just twice a week.” Deirdre now ironically imagines that she cannot imagine staying awake to read out aloud at 11 PM after anchoring in the mornings since the year 2000.

Her title as an Award-winning journalist comes after winning four Emmy Awards in Anchoring/Reporting/Writing, She is a proud graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia where she obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism. Fitzpatrick has traveled the world with KCRA photographer, Mike Domalaog being a member of the Hearst Television Olympic Team.

She states that, together, they have covered the last nine Olympics, 2006 Torino, 2000 Sydney, 2008 Beijing, 2002 Salt Lake City, 2012 London, and 2004 Athens.
