Denese Butler Career

While growing up, Butler didn’t pay attention to her father’s construction business. Rather, she dreamed of being a scientist but it didn’t lead anywhere. She then refocused her attention on fashion. While studying fashion merchandising in college, she and some other students got the chance to visit Lillian August during a field trip. One of the company’s vice presidents invited her to submit a résumé and cover letter after the tour. As a result, she served the Lillian August design studio for multiple years.

She later moved to the Big Apple when the company debuted its New York City location. Still in pursuit of a fashion career, she worked as a personal shopper for Saks Fifth Avenue. She later changed gears and worked in the insurance industry at State Farm. She returned to designing through a job at Romo Fabrics. While there, she found herself leaning toward home décor and eventually her design studio, The Perfect Vignette when her first child was born.

In late 2019, Butler and her family relocated to Stoughton from New Jersey. While in Stoughton, a production company found her and her husband’s design work on Instagram and reached out to them hoping for a potential show. Thus, Fix My Frankenhouse came to be.
