Denis Philips is an American meteorologist working for WFTS as the chief meteorologist. He joined the station in November 1994 and has served the station for more than 2 and a half decades. Previously, he worked in Los Angeles before arriving in Tampa.

Philips attended Penn State University after completing his high school education in 1981. When he finished his studies in 1985, he became a graduate and attained a Bachelor Of Science degree in Meteorology. He swears that joining the college was for its reputation in weather forecasting and not for its national championship football in 1980.

However, it was severe weather got addicted him to the weather. His initial on-air job was when he worked in Salisbury, Maryland after graduating college. Next, he made stops in Gainesville, Providence, and Los Angeles.
He loves weather to the extent of tying himself to a palm tree during a category 3 hurricane to do a live shot sideways. Philips loves Tampa as it has all the challenges that he could ever hope counting acute thunderstorms, tropical storms, and many opportunities to tie himself to a palm tree!
