When she was 7 years old, her mom got a serious TB (tuberculosis). Ross was named “Diane” by her mom but there was a mistake when filing out her birth certificate, and her name came out as Diana.

Ross became famous when she served as the lead singer of “The Supremes” (a vocal group). In the ’60s, the group was the most successful act in Motown. Also, it became among the best-selling girl groups of all time in the world. “The Supremes” still remains the best-charting female group in history, with an overall of 12 singles that hit #1 on the United States Billboard Hot 100.
