DJ Shimza whose real name is Ashley Raphala is a South African DJ who is best known for his album Shimuzic launched in June 2015. He is an iconic face in the entertainment industry of SA and is known for his performances throughout South Africa.

Shimza is from Tembisa township in South Africa, though he was born in Swaziland. He ventured into House Music as a DJ in 2003 and his passion in this field enabled him to steer on to win the Red Square DJ Competition held in 2006. Shimza then went on to win the South African Music Conference which was a DJ Spinoff Competition.

The highlight of his career, so far, came when  In 2011, he won the Gauteng Carnival DJ Competition which gave him much-needed exposure and start-up equipment. He established and hosts the prestigious annual festival Dj Shimza’s One Man Show. During the 1st annual Spring Festival, he got to perform alongside other talented South African DJs such as Black Coffee.

He also released two CD compilations “The Next Big Thing” and “SA House Charts” which were both dominant in clubs, dance floors, social events, and many other activities. DJ Shimza has traveled to several countries such as the United States of America, the UK, and Mexico to perform. Additionally, Shimza has performed in Ibiza, following the footsteps of Black Coffee and Culoe De Song.
