Don Dahler is an American Correspondent/Author/Anchor who worked for CBS News as a Correspondent/Anchor for CBS News and an author of several novels. He joined CBS in March 2013 and left in January 2022 to pursue writing full-time. Further, he is an author.

Among the novels he has authored include mysteries A Tight Lie and Water Hazard, a thriller Do A Little Wrong, a historical mystery/thriller The Lost King, and a new YA sci-fi series My Soul To Keep. Previously, she was employed by WCBS-TV in New York, where he was working as an anchor/reporter. 

Don Dahler Career

Dahler worked with CBS News where he serves the station as a Correspondent/Anchor. He has held the same position in different stations which include CBS, ABC, and FOX. Dahler kick-started his career working with WGHP-TV in High Point, North Carolina in the year 1982. He has also reported there for about three years. Dahler began by working as an unpaid intern for KENS-TV in San Antonio.

The year 1997 saw him working as a correspondent for CNBC based out of Los Angeles. There, he was filing reports on the sports and entertainment industries. Prior to joining CNBC and a brief stint at Fox News Channel as an investigative correspondent. She was a producer for CBS News’ 48 Hours. Prior to that, he also made documentaries and wildfire films in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. During the 2001-02 television season, he was seen hosting Justice Files on the Discovery Channel.

He joined the CBS2 News team on the 4th of September 2007 where she was working as a weekend evening anchor. On the 27th of May 2008, the Daily News reported that the station had decided to give Don the co-anchorage for the 12 noon and 6 PM newscasts which paired him with veteran Dana Tyler. This was just five days after two-time alum Jim Rosenfield was let go for the sake of budget cuts.

Steve Bartelstein, whom Dahler auditioned to replace at WABC-TV after Bartelstein was fired, replaced him as Maru Calvi’s weekend evening co-anchor. On the 8th of September 2011, it was later announced that Dahler would move to weekends, as Chris Wragge was returning to the local station from a 9-month stint as co-host of CBS’ The Early Show.

He joined ABC News in September 1999 as a National Correspondent for Good Morning America. Since then, he filed reports for all programs at ABC. This includes Nightline, Primetime, 20/20 Downtown, Good Morning America, and World News Tonight. He also traveled to Kosovo for war coverage and to Afghanistan and Iraq for the same reason. Additionally, he was embedded with the 101st Airborne during the initial invasion and has returned for three other embeds with U.S. troops.

On the 11th of September 2001, he was the first network correspondent on the scene of the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City reporting live via telephone from his apartment. His apartment was just blocked away from ground zero which was a few moments after the first plane hit the towers.

Since he was one of the only reporters at ground zero when planes hit, he filed the first report of the south tower’s collapse mere seconds after it occurred. Later on, after two weeks, he was one of the first American journalists traveling to Afghanistan before the U.S. began its bombing campaign against the Taliban. In the year 2002, prior to the Iraq War, he and a team from Nightline became the first journalists from the United States to successfully cross the Syrian border into the northern Iraq War in more than a decade.
