Don Nelson is an American journalist working for KIVI as the senior reporter and anchor of Today’s 6 On Your Side. He joined the station in 1994 and has served the station for more than 3 decades. He started broadcasting in 1980 and has worked in the industry for more than 4 decades.

Nelson works for KIVI as the senior reporter and anchor of Today’s 6 On Your Side. At the station, he went to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio Texas for Bowe Bergdahl’s military court martial hearing. In this role, he also went to the Wood River Valley multiple times to talk to people who knew Bowe and supported his family.
Nelson went to Hollywood to interview late-night host Jimmy Kimmel. Further, he went to Canton, Ohio in 2018 to cover Jerry Kramer’s induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He had interviewed him multiple times about his career playing for Head Coach Vince Lombardi.
Nelson’s career started in Rifle, Colorado where he was a DJ named “Dangermoon.” A half dozen years passed and he changed careers from a teleprompter to co-anchor for a TV station in Grand Junction, Colorado. In Grand Junction, Nelson honed his reporting skills and his downhill skiing technique. He sits on the advisory boards for St. Luke’s Hospital and the local Boys and Girls Club.
