Emily Younger Biography

Emily Younger is an American former anchor and reporter known for having worked for KSN as the main evening anchor at 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm. She joined the KSN news team in April 2016 and departed in February 2023. In her departure, she stated that she wanted to focus on her family. Before joining KSN, she was working at FOX Kansas News where she was also a news anchor and reporter. 

Hays, Kansas is her native home and in 2005, she joined Hays High School where she earned a diploma in 2009. Later on, she joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she earned a Bachelor’s in Journalism, Advertising, and Public Relations in addition to also having a minor in Spanish.

Throughout her career, she has received many awards including five first-place Kansas Association of Broadcaster awards and a National Edward R. Murrow Award. KSN launched Positive Connections with Emily Younger in 2019, which is a franchise showcasing Emily’s strong storytelling skills.

Prior to joining KSN in April 2016, she worked in the CBS affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico for three years. While she worked in Albuquerque, New Mexico, she covered Pope Francis’ visit to the Mexico-United States border, covered a school shooting, and the Department of Justice’s investigation into the Albuquerque Police Department.

Despite the fact that she loves the Huskers, she is an avid Chiefs football and KU basketball fan. Whenever she is not working, she can be found volunteering in the community as she is a member of the Women United Read to Succeed initiative that assists  local elementary students transition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn.” Younger has also served as a Girls on the Run coach.

During her leisure time, she enjoys working out as she is a  certified personal trainer who helps women gain confidence through nutrition and exercise. She also enjoys spending ample time with her family and searching for a new running path.
