Eric Garlick Biography

Eric Garlick is an American Chief Meteorologist who is working at WGXA News. He joined the WGXA News team in August 2021 as a Chief Meteorologist. Previously, he worked at KOCO 5 News where he served as a meteorologist for the weekend mornings weather newscast and reported on weekday mornings.

Garlick currently works at WGXA News where he has been serving as the Chief Meteorologist since August 2021. He directs First Alert storm chasers and Sky 5 in times of severe weather reports from the First Alert Weather Center.

He developed his love for weather at a very young age. Garlick was attached to the TV every night to see what other nature was going to bring to the table. It started with an interest in winter weather, though when he learned more, severe weather became a major focus. Garlick proceeded to study weather in college. After his time in college, he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Central Michigan University.

Garlick’s dream came true after getting a chance to forecast the weather in Oklahoma. He started his broadcast job in Davenport, Iowa. Garlick spent over 2 years forecasting the weather all over the United States. Prior to joining KOCO 5 News, Garlick forecasted weather at 14 News in Evansville, Indiana for 4 years. During his leisure time, Garlick enjoys being outdoors, working out, or spending time with his fiancé and their dog, Winston. He grew up in Richmond, Michigan, northeast of Detroit.
