Eric Snitil Biography
Eric Snitil is an American meteorologist working for WROC as the chief meteorologist since joining the station in August 2019. Previously, he worked for WSFA 12 News as a morning meteorologist for nearly 8 years.

Snitil joined Kent State University in 2006 after finishing his high school education. In 2010, he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast News. He later earned his Meteorology Certification from Mississippi State University.

Snitil works for WROC as the chief meteorologist. He grew up on the shores of Lake Erie, where he developed a love for the Great Lakes weather. Further, is happy to return to the region he grew up in and closer to family. He forecasted the weather in Ohio, Alaska, and even Alabama, which has some of America’s most challenging climates.
Viewers credited Snitil’s coverage for saving numerous lives during severe weather during his stint in Alabama, encouraging people to immediately seek shelter due to a tornado outbreak. One woman said he saved her life during the Wetumpka tornado, commenting that she managed to stay safe due to his warning, even though her house and car were lost.
During his career, Snitil has been honored with several awards, including the Associated Press Best Weathercaster Award, the New York Broadcasters Association Best Weathercast Award, and the Alabama Broadcasters Association Best Weathercaster Award. He also holds the Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association.
