In 2008, Andrews was stalked by Michael David Barrett, then 46, who took nude videos of her through peepholes at the Nashville Marriott beside Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Radisson Airport hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On July 16, 2009. one of the videos was posted online and went viral. He was apprehended on October 2nd, 2009 for interstate stalking, and pleaded guilty to the charges on December 15th, 2009. Further, another video was found on his computer while she stayed at the Radisson in Milwaukee.

On March 15th, 2010, he received a sentence of two and a half years in prison, three years of probation, $5,000 in fines, and $7,366 in restitution. Following the completion of his sentence at the Seattle Community Correctional Center, he was released on July 3rd, 2012. After his release, she sued Barrett, Marriott International, Radisson Hotels, and five other institutions for invasion of privacy and negligence in connection with the videotaping. She voiced that employees exposed her dates of stay to him and gave him a room next to hers.

In October 2015, she filed a lawsuit against the Nashville Marriott and Barrett for $75 million. Following a two-week trial, the jury awarded her $55 million on March 7th, 2016. The jury found the hotel management company (Windsor Capital Group) and its owner (West End Hotel Partners) 49% accountable and Barrett 51% accountable. A computer science professor voiced a conservative estimate that at least 16.8 million people viewed some of the secretly shot footage online, counting pornographic websites.
