Eva Mastromatteo is an American journalist working for WICU as a news anchor of Erie News Now at 5, 5:30, and 6 p.m. In addition, she reports for the weekly series, “Giving You the Business” featuring local businesses, and is a member of the investigative reporting team. She joined the station in December 2010 and has served the station for more than a decade. Previously, she worked for WBRE in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania as a news anchor and reporter for 2 years.

Mastromatteo decided to pursue a career in communication after she competed in speech and debate in high school. She realized that she wasn’t afraid of being in front of people, particularly after she was on the state level reaching the National Forensic Tournament in high school.
After graduating college, she worked as a radio news reporter for WDPN in Alliance. There, she broadcasted city council and school board meetings as well as delivering daily radio newscasts. Since she always wanted to write and broadcast TV news, she accepted a bureau reporting role at WDTV in West Virginia.
While at WDTV in West Virginia, she broadcasted the Morgantown region. However, bureau reporting didn’t shape up and thus, she hauled a camera and equipment home nightly, and slept with a police scanner. Next, she relocated to the Buckeye State where she served WMFD in Mansfield as an anchor and reporter.
Mastromatteo relocated to Youngstown, Ohio where she served WYTV as a producer, anchor, and reporter. She also interviewed celebrities, did feature and breaking news reports, and reported from Nashville during the Country Music Awards.
From Youngstown, she moved to Wilkes-Barre where she worked as a morning anchor and reporter. She enjoys news writing, anchoring, reporting, and everything it entails. She also loves getting involved with the community by participating in regional events and meeting viewers.
