Evan Anderson Biography
Evan Anderson is an American reporter and anchor working for NBC 5 News in Dallas/Fort Worth. He joined the station in February 2017.
Evan Anderson Education
Anderson attended Eastern Hills High School where he earned his High School Diploma in General Education. From there, he had to further his education, he joined Dillard University in New Orleans to pursue his career course. After completing his studies there, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Business Management in 2008. In addition to that, he attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth in the Fall of 2005 after Hurricane Katrina flooded Dillard’s campus. He returned to Dillard in the Spring of 2006.

Anderson is a reporter and anchor at NBC 5 News in Dallas. He anchors NBC 5 Today on Saturday and Sunday mornings. In addition to that, he reports and anchors for NBC 5 Today during the week. Prior to returning to Lone Star State, he worked at WBNS in Columbus, Ohio. While there, he served the station as the weekend evening anchor. His career also took him to Oklahoma City to work for KWTV. In the course of his working time there, he served as a reporter.
His first reporting job was at KATC in Lafayette, Louisiana. From there, he headed to New Orleans to work for WVUE. While there, he served the station as a reporter and anchor. Moreover, he has had a hand in covering major news events including the Deepwater Horizon oil spill off the Louisiana coast in 2010. Anderson was on the team that covered what turned into the largest oil spill in United States history.
Furthermore, he was one of the first reporters at the Belle Chasse Naval Air station in Plaquemines Parish after the BP oil rig exploded and sunk. Throughout his journalism career, he has covered a number of tornadoes and major hurricanes. He also covered the aftermath of Hurricanes Gustav, Ike, and Isaac along the Gulf Coast, and the EF5 tornado that struck Moore, Oklahoma, in May 2013.
During his time at Dillard University, he became the managing editor for “The Courtbouillon,” a student newspaper. Furthermore, he was the Junior Class Vice President and president of the Dillard University Association of Black Journalists. During her leisure time, he likes reconnecting with his home teams, the Dallas Stars, Mavs, Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys. In addition to that, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends all over North Texas.
