Allen joined John A. Logan College in August 2006 after finishing high school. In May 2008, she obtained an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies/Social Work and transferred to Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
In May 2010, Allen graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio and TV. During her time there, she was a member of the NABJ and participated in the River Region Evening Edition News.
