He got the role due to his ear-perfect Russian accent since the film’s director, John Crowley, wanted to cast a real Russian actor for the role.

In July 2020, it was announced that he and his brother Nick would play twin brothers in NEW-GEN. He was named in the Forbes 30 Under 30 class of 2020 in the category of Hollywood and entertainment. Wolfhard co-starred in Ghostbusters: Afterlife where he played the son of Coon’s single mother.

Wolfhard served as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and songwriter for Vancouver-based rock band Calpurnia, until the band’s November 2019 split. A few weeks later, Wolfhard’s new band, The Aubreys debuted on the soundtrack of The Turning. It has Calpurnia drummer, Malcolm Craig.
The Aubreys issued their single, “Loved One” on March 10, 2020, and their debut EP “Soda & Pie” through AWAL, on March 13, 2020. On August 17, 2020, their next single, “Smoke Bomb,” was released. On January 12, 2021, they released their initial collaboration AA single with Lunar Vacation. Additionally, their second single, “Sand in My Bed,” was released on February 14, 2021.
