Gary Amble Biography

Gary Amble is an American meteorologist working at KCTV5 where he serves as a weekday meteorologist. He joined the KCTV5 team in June 1994, after previously working at WHO-TV in Des Moines.  

Gary Amble Career

Prior to Gary joining the KCTV5 team, he worked at WHO-TV, Des Moines where he served as a morning meteorologist. He has also worked at KFDA in Amarillo as a weekend weathercaster, and at KSNT in Topeka, he served as a chief weathercaster. In 1982, he joined The University of Kansas where he graduated in 1987, with a Bachelor of Arts in Atmospheric Science.

In addition, before he joined the University of Kansas, he ran track at Pittsburg State University and at Allen County Community College. Over the years, he has received numerous awards including the seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society.

As of the moment, he is a member of the AMS member and he considers one of the highlights of his career to be the flood of 1993 in Des Moines when he worked for 22 hours consistently for hours. During his leisure time, he enjoys watching KU football and basketball, spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, and playing softball.
