Greg Coy Biography

Greg Coy is an American journalist of Indian descent working for WJCL as a weekday anchor and investigative reporter for 22 News since joining the station in October 2021. Previously, he worked for WCVB, the Hearst flagship station in Boston, Massachusetts.

Greg Coy Education

Coy joined Washington and Lee University after finishing his studies at The Gunnery School(now known as The Frederick Gunn School). He later graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Sociology. During his time in college, he was involved with WLUR-FM, Channel 9, the Wrestling Team, and the Student Association of Black Unity.

He previously worked for WCVB, the Hearst flagship station in Boston, Massachusetts. He also worked as the weekend anchor and investigative reporter for WHBQ in Memphis, Tennessee.

Coy worked with a team of reporters that earned a Regional Emmy for covering the protests about police responsibility and transparency. While in Memphis, he covered the necessity for a witness protection program to help solve violent crimes, the devastating Gatlinburg Fire, and the arrest of Sherra Wright for the murder of her husband and former NBA star, Lorenzen Wright.

Coy has received regional AP and SPJ awards for his reporting during his time at WFSB in Hartford. Before that, he was an anchor, reporter, and co-managing editor at Comcast/CN8 News in Philadelphia. There, he covered the Capitol Hill shooting, the 9-11 terror attacks, and the controversial Philadelphia Mayoral election in 2003. He has been a lifelong member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
