Gunnar Consol Biography

Gunnar Consol is an American meteorologist working for WCAX as the weekday evening meteorologist since joining the station in April 2025. Previously, he worked as a meteorologist at WEVV in Evansville, Indiana, for 3 years.

Gunnar Consol Education

Consol joined Plymouth State University in New Hampshire in 2017 after finishing his education at Crystal River High School. In 2021, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology with minors in Professional Communications and Mathematics.

Consol works for WCAX as the weekday evening meteorologist. He became infatuated with the weather while growing up on the Gulf Coast of Florida, where thunderstorms happened in the summer like clockwork. The power of hurricanes amazed him, and the lack of cold weather made him curious to experience another side of weather, winter.

Consol swapped his flip-flops for snow boots, moving to New Hampshire for his degree. He fell in love with the region after experiencing nor’easters, arctic blasts, and wicked snowstorms. After graduating from college, he moved to the Midwest, where he was a broadcast meteorologist at WHIZ in Zanesville, Ohio. He then spent 3 years as a weekend meteorologist at WEVV in Evansville, Indiana.

After experiencing hurricane alley, nor’easter alley, and tornado alley, Consol believes that there’s nothing Mother Nature can throw at him he hasn’t covered before! While in college, he fell in love with New England, its weather and its diverse landscapes. Now, he is thrilled to return and forecast for Vermont and the North Country at WCAX.
