Heather Leigh Biography
Heather Leigh is an American journalist working for WFTS as a weekend morning anchor for Good Morning Tampa, Bay. Also, she reports three mornings out of the week and substitutes as a traffic anchor when needed. She joined the station in 2017. Previously, she worked for WJXT as a multimedia journalist.

Her career started in 2009 when she worked as an intern at a station in Tampa, Florida. Next, she interned in Jacksonville, Florida where her passion for reporting started. After graduating college, she landed her initial job in the midwest town of Sioux City, Iowa, at Siouxland News.
During her time there, she reported and anchored the morning news for 2 years. Regularly, she substituted at the evening news desk. Then, she rejoined Florida and worked for Channel 4 where she had interned. While there, her reporting skills upgraded.
Quickly, she became the go-to reporter for breaking news and big stories of the day. Also, she earned her initial Emmy for her story about police shootings dubbed “Shoot, don’t shoot.” Further, she attained an AP award for best Multimedia Journalist in a medium size market.

Following three years, she had her sights on Tampa. Then, she joined WFTS-ABC Action News where worked her way up from weekend reporting to weekday reporting. She has attained 2 Emmys for her work about the flops of the state’s unemployment system during COVID-19 stories.
Also, she attained an AP award for best Multi-media journalist in a large market. Further, she received another AP award for her work on the joblessness system. While reporting, she started substituting as a traffic anchor for the morning shows. An avid animal lover, she has two dogs and 2 cats that she chats about.
