Her series won an International Edward R. Murrow award and a Canadian Screen Award nomination.

Before she joined the Global Calgary team in 2005, she worked at Global Lethbridge in 2003. In addition, her curiosity about the AIDS pandemic in Africa took her to South Africa in 2008. While she was in South Africa, she took a break from broadcasting to help a small NGO produce videos about the work they were doing. Furthermore, she shared her experiences with Global audiences online as she was moved by the tragedy of the orphan crisis created by the pandemic. Yourex attended the University of Calgary and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology where she studied broadcasting.
