Ivan Parker Biography
Ivan Parker is an American Singer who is well-known for singing many Southern Gospel songs and Christian music, such as Midnight Cry, What a Time! “Rise Again”, Walk On, Movin’ Up, Indiana Live, Instrumentals Volume 1, and many others.
Parker became part of a Southern Gospel group “Singing Americans” in Maiden, North Carolina, in the year 1982. He joined the Gold City Quartet (the Dove Award-winning group) as a lead vocalist in the subsequent year. While there, the Salem Media Group, Inc. “Singing News” named him Favorite Lead Vocalist for half a decade (1988-1993). Also, they named him Favorite Male Vocalist for about 7 years (1989-1995, & 1997). In the year 1993, Parker was inducted into the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.
Parker released his debut recording as a solo artist in January 1994. In the subsequent year, Parker joined Gloria and Bill Gaither on the “Homecoming” tour. Parker stored with the Gaithers for about one and a half decades. He sang with Anthony Burger (pianist/baritone) and Kirk Talley (tenor) on an occasional basis in a group they referred to as “The Trio”.
The Salem Media Group, Inc. named Parker “Favorite Soloist”; in 2006-2016 & 2001-2004. In the Singing News Fan Awards, in the years 2008 and 2007, Parker was voted “Male Vocalist of the Year”. His compilation “The Best of Ivan Parker: From the Homecoming Series” reached number 188 on the Billboard 200. From 1998 to 2006, Parker did line-ups with the performers Anthony Burger, Ivan Parker, and Kirk Talley. Parker has done 3 video performances: Requested LIVE (2005), Exclusively LIVE (2010), and The Best of Ivan Parker (2007).

He was diagnosed with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma in 2021 summer. In his announcement about the disease, he stated that he had a skin cancer spot on the back of his lymph nodes and tongue that he said MUST be terminated. He also said that since he went to consult his doctors, he always felt the peace that passed understanding and hoped that all would be okay. His docs also confirmed the same. He also urged his fans and friends to keep him in their prayers and support. Parker underwent successful surgery on August 24, 2021.
