Jackson Proskow Biography
Jackson Proskow is a Canadian journalist working for Global News as its Washington Bureau Chief. He brings with him a lifelong passion for current affairs to the station. He joined the Global News team in 2014.
Jackson Proskow Education
While Proskow was in high school, he joined the broadcast industry as he served as a reporter for Shaw TV Calgary. Later, he joined the University of Calgary where he Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies. In addition, he has also studied at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) where earned a diploma in Broadcast Journalism.

Proskow is a Washington Bureau Chief who works at Global News. Over the years, he has covered the royal wedding in London, hurricane relief missions in the Caribbean, flooding in Southern Alberta, and earthquake-devastated Nepal. Prior to joining Global National, he worked in Toronto and while he was there he was on the front lines of its biggest news stories. In addition, he has also covered the City Hall beat, whereby he asked the toughest questions to Mayor Rob Ford that led to his confession of having used crack cocaine, international media frenzy, and sparking.
In addition, while working at Global News, he has put his love of investigative journalism to work as he has assisted in uncovering important structural flaws with Toronto’s elevated Gardiner Expressway, prompting a city-wide debate about the future of the road. Furthermore, Proskow worked on a documentary that examined a widely-used pesticide that is speculated to be of harm to honey bees while he was on Global’s current affairs show 16X9.
Later on, the use of that pesticide was heavily restricted by the Ontario government as he had proven the suspicions to be true. In addition, after he had graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, he was able to secure a job at Global Lethbridge where he served as a weekend anchor and reporter. In 2005, he relocated to Ontario where he worked at CHCH-TV in Hamilton serving as a videographer and reporter. Furthermore, he later worked at Global Toronto in January 2006, before relocating to Washington, DC in August 2014
Furthermore, he has been honored with a number of awards such as an Edward R. Murrow award for his investigation into safety issues with Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway. the RTDNA Dan McArthur Award and Digital Media Award were also presented to him and the Global News team for his investigation into safety issues with Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway. Jackson was nominated for the Canadian Screen Award for Best News Information Segment. During his downtime, he enjoys exploring Washington’s restaurant scene, running, and traveling.
