Jacob Matthews is an American journalist working for WJET/WFXP as a weekend meteorologist since joining the station in March 2023. Previously, he worked as a meteorologist and reporter at WETM in Elmira, New York, for nearly 2 years.

Matthews joined Penn State University in 2017 after finishing his high school education. In 2021, he graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Atmospheric Science and Meteorology. While in college, he developed his weather and forecasting skills from the university’s student-run, Campus Weather Service. Also, he played the trumpet for the Penn State Blue Band during his four years at the university.

That snowstorm and his love for math and science are what inspired him to become the weather weenie that he is today. His favorite weather phenomenon is lake-effect snow.
