Before moving to Missouri, Thompson was a multimedia journalist and fill-in anchor at KPHO-TV in Phoenix, Arizona. While in Phoenix, she broadcast the nation’s self-proclaimed toughest sheriff, Joe Arpaio, and the Jodi Arias trial. She also earned her first Emmy for covering WiFi hacking.
Thompson heavily covered immigration reform and spent almost two weeks on the front lines broadcasting the Wallow Fire, Arizona’s largest wildfire in state history. She launched her TV news career in Casper, Wyoming, where she served at KTWO-TV. She started her stint as a multimedia journalist and was later promoted to assistant news director.
Immediately after graduating from college, Thompson taught English as a second language in Madrid, Spain. She enjoys riding horses and being involved in the community. Much of her free time is spent emceeing charity events, and she has worked closely with the ALS Association.
