Tompkins attained her high school diploma from Northern Virginia, United States. She later furthered her studies at Wagner College where she graduated and got her degree in Musical Theater & Speech.

Her career journey began with her love for writing back in 1991, she had her book published at the very young age of nine years old and from then her writing enabled her to travel around the country; from coast to coast. Jamie’s first television job was at a local television in 2003 at Union TV34 where she served as a Host and Producer. While there she sharpened her skills in not only writing for TV but also shooting and editing her own stories.

She then accepted a position as Host for two shows, “Comcast Newsmakers” and “Comcast on the Red Carpet” in 2004, the shows were both produced by CN8 The Comcast Network (Philadelphia) and aired on CNN Headline News (HLN). Jamie was later made the Director of Operations for Westfield TV36 in 2007 and her main role was to facilitate all technical and creative responsibilities. She later left and took up another job in Knoxville, TN, in 2009 working as an anchor and reporter at WATE 6 NEWS (ABC), she reported on morning, afternoon, and evening broadcasts.

Her dedication to her work including having to wear helmets, a uniform, and a bulletproof vest to train with the 278th, and documenting the military’s preparations for deployment to Iraq did not go unnoticed for she received several awards for the military reports.

She covered all cases from high risk to high profile coverage and also covered the station red carpet segments including the CMA’s in Nashville. In 2011, Jamie got another business opportunity at KOMO 4 News (ABC) in Seattle serving as an anchor and reporter. That is where Jamie met her husband, the director. She worked at KOMO from December 2011 to 2014.
