Janae’ Hancock Biography

Janae’ Hancock is an American journalist working as a news anchor for WTOK News. She was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. She attended and graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Journalism and Media Communication.

She is a member of The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ). She enjoys traveling, trying new food, meditating, or spending time with friends and family when she is not at work.

Janae’ was promoted to the producer and anchor position on Good Morning Meridian within a year. She won “The Rookie of the Year Award” in 2020 for her work in Mississippi, and The Mississippi Association of Broadcasters awarded her third place in 2021 for her work in “Best General News Stories.”

At WTOK, Janae’ created the second annual Black History Month Special. She highlighted five women who integrated Meridian High School in 1965 during the special.

She interviewed the youngest and oldest members of the internationally renowned Little Rock Nine, a Holocaust survivor and stepsister to Anne Frank, members of the renowned Exonerated Five, and one of the victims of the Aurora, Colorado, theater massacre. Her interest in broadcast journalism also led her to interview other historical luminaries.
