Jason Blundell was the Co-Studio Head and Senior Executive Producer at Treyarch. He is leaving the studio famous for the Call of Duty Black Ops series before the developer’s 2020 release. He was best known for directing Zombies mode and maps.
Blundell started working on Zombies in 2007, by helping create the map Der Riese for World at War, the first game in the Call of Duty series to feature the now-iconic horde mode. Blundell became Executive Producer on Call of Duty: Black Ops and was one of the Campaign Design Directors for Call of Duty: Black Ops II. He also directed two maps for the Zombies mode of Black Ops II, Mob of the Dead, and Origins.
A couple of years later, he directed Call of Duty: Black Ops III as Game Director for the Campaign mode and as Game Director for the Zombies mode, taking over the position previously held by Jimmy Zielinski. He remained the Game Director for the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 after the campaign mode was canceled. In November 2016, he became Co-Studio Head of Treyarch alongside Dan Bunting and Mark Gordon. On February 28, 2020, Treyarch announced Jason Blundell was leaving the studio.

On February 28, 2020, Treyarch announced Jason Blundell’s exit from the company on Treyarch Studios Twitter. In the post, Blundell made his own statement about his exit from the company.
“After 13 fantastic, action-packed years, I am moving on from Treyarch,” Blundell wrote. “Clearly, I’d be remiss if I didn’t thank the group that continues to make it all worth it: the Zombies community! Your passion, and enthusiasm – and frankly, your craziness – have been a continued source of inspiration. These are memories I will cherish for a lifetime.”
