Jason Caterina Biography
Jason Caterina is the meteorologist on Good Day Virginia. He joined the WFXR weather team in August of 2015. Prior to that he spent a few years at the No. 1 station in the Albany, N.Y., market; was a chief meteorologist in Burlington, Vt.; and started his career in the lake effect snows of Syracuse, N.Y. This will be his 10th year as a meteorologist.

During Jason’s career, he has covered tropical storms that devastated the Capital Region; pinpointed tornadoes; and reported on severe weather outbreaks, blizzards, and crippling lake effect snow events. In addition to his meteorological duties, Jason, an animal lover, hosted a half-hour, weekly pet adoption show in conjunction with one of the local humane societies to promote animal welfare and help find shelter pets loving homes.
In fact, he and his co-producer were honored with the 2015 Humane Media Award for their efforts by the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Albany, N.Y. Jason is an avid snowboarder and has been a ski and snowboard reporter with SnoCountry Mountain reports for 20 years.
He has been Meteorologist for a variety of news shows including the weekend mornings. We use WSI: MAX weather software for our weather show graphics. I also update the stations’ webpage and social media accounts.
Through heavy use of my own meteorologist social media accounts, I further the stations brand and reach by interacting with the public on a variety of topics, not just weather. I also host and co-produce the 2015 Humane Media Award-winning MHM Capital Region Pet Show. The pet show is a weekly, 30 minutes, pet adoption show highlighting animals up for adoption at a local humane society.
