Jason Stoogenke Biography
Jason Stoogenke is an American journalist working for WSOC as the Action 9 consumer investigator since 2013. He joined the station in September 2006 and has served the station for over 15 years. Previously, he worked for WRAL in Fayetteville, North Carolina as a news reporter for 3 years.
Jason Stoogenke Education
Stoogenke joined Towson University when he finished his high school education. He later graduated with a Bachelor Of Science degree in Mass Communications/Media Studies. He also has a Doctor of Law – JD from the University of Maryland’s Francis King Carey School of Law.

Stoogenke has worked for WSOC as the Action 9 consumer investigator since 2013. He reported on Charlotte-Mecklenburg government matters for 7 years before the 2013 promotion. Since 1970, he has been the third Action 9 investigator since the team started.
Stoogenke has won several regional awards for his investigative reports. During his career, he has assisted consumers in reclaiming hundreds of thousands of dollars, avoiding scams, and saving their families and their wallets. He was the first to cover stories that went beyond the Carolinas.
Stoogenke exposed Juuls use in classrooms, swindling EpiPens prices, fires starting in Hyundai and Kia vehicles, and certain Chevrolet model vehicles experiencing the “Chevy Shake.” The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development was prompted to remove the word “Negro” from one of its forms due to his reports.
Stoogenke worked with WSOC’s sister station in six other states to investigate a real estate company that provided homeowners fast cash in exchange for exclusive rights to trade their homes for 4 decades. His report prompted over 16 states to initiate bills to prohibit those kinds of contracts.
Stoogenke unmasked a local used car dealership trading rebadged vehicles. The investigation prompted a state investigation, the shutdown of the dealer’s two locations, reimbursement for numerous customers, and the owners being prohibited from the auto business in North Carolina. He began his career in Dalton as a sports anchor before he switched to news in Chattanooga and Raleigh/Fayetteville.
