He received the Associated Press Best Anchor Award in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012. Previously, he worked as an anchor and reporter for the NBC Affiliate in Midland for 13 years. While in Midland, he also served the NBC Affiliate as the sports director for seven and a half years.

Hendricks has gained recognition for his devotion to the community, including co-hosting the Permian Basin Rehab Center Telethon and sitting on the board of Senior Link Midland.
