Jay Kidwell is an American journalist who serves on the Local 4 News team as Sports Director since 2001. Previously, he was Sports Director at the CBS affiliate, WFSB-TV in Hartford Connecticut. Before that, Jay was a Sports Anchor/Reporter at WGGB-TV, the ABC affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Jay is a Southern Connecticut native who earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communications from the University of Hartford. He has always had a fascination for sports, even as a toddler when he would pretend to proclaim “play by play!” during baseball games on the radio.
Jay says he enjoys covering local sports teams in the Quad Cities because he not only gets to follow the teams, but also gets to meet a lot of fantastic students, families, and individuals in the community. Kidwell also volunteers for organizations such as NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), The HAVlife Foundation, and The United Way in his community.
