Texas is his birth home however, he was later brought up in the Dallas suburb of Rowlett. He attended the University of Missouri and while he was at the university, he was able to cover high school football games on Friday nights. Later on, he shifted from reporting high school football games to news reporting. During his leisure time, he follows the NBA and tries to keep up with the fast-changing landscape of television shows and movies.
