Jeff Driskel is an American football quarterback playing for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League (NFL). The San Francisco 49ers drafted him in the 6th round of the NFL Draft in 2016. Before transferring to Louisiana Tech, he played college football at Florida.
Jeff Driskel Education/High School Career
Driskel studied at Paul J. Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Florida. While in high school, he participated in high school football and basketball. As a high school footballer, he e threw for 4,844 yards and had 36 touchdowns. In 2010, he was chosen as a member of the Elite 11 quarterback competition, ranking first and won MVP.
During his senior year in high school, he secured the titles of Maxwell Football Club National High School Player of the Year and the Gatorade Florida Player of the Year. Rivals.com and Scout.com ranked him as the best pro-style quarterback recruit in his class. After graduating high school, he joined the University of Florida on an athletic scholarship. He later transferred to Louisiana Tech University.

College Career
University of Florida/Florida Gators
Driskel attended the University of Florida on an athletic scholarship. There, he played for the Florida Gators football team under coach Will Muschamp. During his freshman year, he made appearances in five games, finishing 16 of 34 passes for 148 yards with two interceptions. In 2012, he served as the team’s starter while he was still a freshman. In this capacity, he led the team to an 11–2 record and a berth in the Sugar Bowl in 2013, where Florida lost to the Louisville Cardinals.
He started three games but broke his right fibula in a game against Tennessee in 2013. As a result, he skipped the remaining season. The following year, he returned from the injury and served as the starter during the beginning of the season but Treon Harris replaced him later.

Louisiana Tech
On January 3, 2015, Driskel transferred to Louisiana Tech University from Florida. There, he passed for 4,026 yards and had 27 touchdowns

San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers drafted him in the 6th round of the NFL Draft in 2016 with the 207th overall pick. In exchange for Driskel, they traded Vernon Davis to the Denver Broncos. On May 5, 2016, they signed him to a $2.45 million contract with a signing bonus of $112,539 for four years. He started training camp as the No. 4 quarterback on the depth chart. When Thad Lewis was injured, Driskel vied against Christian Ponder for the third-string quarterback position. On September 3, 2016, the 49ers renounced him.

Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals took Driskel on September 4, 2016. Driskel started the season as the third quarterback behind veterans Andy Dalton and A. J. McCarron. Due to an injury, he was put on injured reserve on September 4, 2017.
Driskel returned to his regular-season NFL on October 21, 2018, where he completed all four of his pass tries for 39 yards. While playing against the Cleveland Browns, he sustained a thumb injury that made him out for the season. When he returned he threw his first professional touchdown to Tyer Boyd. He served as the starter for the last 5 games of the season in which he passed for 764 yards, 5 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions signed him on September 17, 2019. In November of that same year, he started for the Lions against the Chicago Bears since Matthew Stafford couldn’t make it due to an injury. By week 10, he had 269 passing yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The following week, they played against the Dallas Cowboys in which he had thrown 209 yards, had two touchdowns, and rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown.
Driskel then sustained a hamstring injury when they played against the Washington Redskins. On November 30, 2019, they put him on injured reserve. Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos signed him on March 27, 2020. After quarterback Drew Lock was injured, Driskel filled in during a Week 2 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the game, he passed 256 yards, had two touchdowns, and one interception in relief. During week 3, he officially started for the team when they played against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the game, he threw 176 yards, had 1 touchdown, and 1 interception before he was benched during the fourth quarter.
Driskel was put on the reserve/COVID-19 list on November 26, 2020, when he tested positive for the virus. The team fined him alongside three other quarterbacks for disobeying COVID-19 protocols. On December 16, 2020, he returned after being on the reserve/COVID-19 list. The Broncos released him on May 3, 2021.
