Jeff Herndon Biography

Jeff Herndon is an American Emmy award-winning anchor/reporter/director working for KSN as an evening anchor and assistant news director. He joined KSN in September 2017, after previously working at Fox Chicago. 

Haysville, Kansas is his native home and in 1994, he joined Wichita State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism in 1998. Prior to joining KSN, he worked for the FOX affiliate in Chicago, WFLD where he served as a primary evening anchor for 4 years. While he worked at WFLD, he served as the co-anchor of the station’s political coverage of the 2014 Illinois Gubernatorial and 2015 Chicago Mayoral elections. Herndon also served as the co-anchor of the station’s coverage of the 2016 Presidential election.

While Fox Chicago’s coverage of the Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series Championship run, he served as its field anchor. Before he joined Fox Chicago, he worked at KAKE in Wichita, Kansas where he served as a main anchor and as the lead co-anchor for the station’s live uninterrupted coverage of the BTK Serial Killer’s arrest, arraignment, and sentencing. In addition, he is revealed to be one of the only two television journalists who interviewed BTK, Dennis Rader while he was incarcerated at the Sedgwick County Jail.

Furthermore, during his career as a journalist, he has received a number of honors for news reporting from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and he is a 4-time Heartland Chapter Emmy Winner.
