Jeff Penner Biography

Jeff Penner is an American meteorologist working for KSHB as a weekend morning meteorologist. He joined the station in August 1999 as a weather producer.

Penner joined the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988 after finishing his education at the Barstow School from pre-K through 12th grade. In 1992, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology.

Penner works for KSHB as a weekend morning meteorologist. Upon joining the station, he initially worked as a weather producer. The Kansas City native has always loved weather for as long as he can remember. His mother told him that he used to tear paper and make it blow around as a toddler.

Penner returned to Kansas City as an intern for another station in town. There, he met Gary Lezak in 1992 and worked as a part-time weather producer until 1999. Gary brought him with him in 2000 when he moved to KSHB 41, and he has never left. He has now served KSHB for over 2 decades.
