Jeff Ranieri is an American Emmy-Award-Winning Meteorologist/Anchor/Reporter working with NBC Bay Area where he serves the station as a Chief Meteorologist. There, he forecasts the Weekday Weather News at 5, 6, and 11 PM.
Jeff Ranieri Career
Ranieri works with NBC Bay Area where he serves the station as a Chief Meteorologist and weekday evening weather forecaster. He holds the American Meteorological Seal of Approval. While forecasting the complex microclimates of the Bay Area is one of Jeff’s main passions as temperatures in a 35-mile radius can range from 50° to 100°.
He has also become well-known for his personality-driven live remote forecasts from events and locations all over the Bay area. He states some of the few notables include Golfing on Pebble Beach & sliding on the ice with Kristi Yamaguchi. Ranieri also states that he has managed to turn sports into weather while covering the San Francisco Giants’ 2010 quest for the World Series Championship.
Ranieri states that he loves getting involved in the community. He is at the moment working with “Fly” Fresh Lifelines For Youth, Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley, Safeway Holiday Food Drive & Silicon Valley’s CAMP / AREAA Annual Holiday Charity Fundraiser, and SF Project Open Hand, San Francisco SPCA “Clear The Shelters Event.”
Asides from working as a Chief Meteorologist and providing occasional live feature reporting, he has also served as the “Olympic Zone” host during the London, Sochi, Rio & PyeongChang games. This was while taking fans to some of the top stories and highlights during the half-hour shows.
Later on, after joining the NBC Bay Area team, he also continued to contribute to NBC Network coverage which included the tsunami warning for the entire West Coast, while heading back East to track Hurricane Irene, and reporting on the 6.0 Napa Earthquake.
Prior to NBC Bay Area, he was working in New York City where he was serving NBC News as a correspondent for NBC News and MSNBC. Asides from this, he has also previously worked as the Weekend Today Show Meteorologist and Early Today.
Besides this, he has also covered a wide range of major weather events from the studio and from the field. These include covering the historic Midwest flooding, and Hurricane Katrina in Biloxi, Mississippi. Asides from this, he has also traveled to Torino and Beijing in order to cover the 2006 and 2008 Olympic Games. Before joining NBC Network in the year 2004, he was working as a Meteorologist at KCRA-TV in Sacramento. Asides from this, he has also worked in Oregon and Florida. There, he was working as an Anchor/Reporter/Meteorologist.
