Jeff Rivenbark Biography
Jeff Rivenbark is an American journalist working for WWAY as an anchor of the 6, 7:30, 10, and 11 p.m. newscasts. He joined the station in March 2018 as a morning co-anchor. Before moving back to Wilmington in 2018, Rivenbark worked in Charlotte, Raleigh, Greenville, and St. Joseph.

Rivenbark joined UNC Wilmington after finishing his high school education. In 1993, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies. He furthered his studies at Regent University, earning his Master of Arts degree in Journalism in 1996.

Rivenbark has held interviews with multiple newsmakers, from Governor Roy Cooper to Congressman David Rouzer. Also, he has provided coverage for Hurricanes Isaias in 2020, Dorian in 2019, and Florence in 2018.
Rivenbark has hosted dozens of educators for WWAY’s “Teacher of the Week” franchise. In addition, he has filed special reports evaluating the opioid disaster in the Cape Fear and the controversy over Confederate statues on public grounds.
Before moving back to Wilmington in 2018, Rivenbark worked in Charlotte, Raleigh, Greenville, and St. Joseph. In this capacity, he was an executive producer at WTVI PBS Charlotte, an assignment editor/reporter at WBTV TV 3, and an assignment editor at Spectrum News and WCCB. He also held anchoring and reporting positions at WNCT and KQTV.
Besides his work on TV, Rivenbark serves as an adjunct professor teaching Multimedia Journalism at UNC Wilmington’s Communication Studies Department. He currently sits on the board of the Teen Scene, a non-profit organization that produces a monthly literary publication written by and for teenagers.
Rivenbark previously sat on the board of Thalian Association Community Theatre. He worked as a public information officer with the Immunization Branch of the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services.
