Jen Maxfield Biography
Jen Maxfield is a prominent Emmy Award Journalist working for NBC 4 New York as a reporter and Substitute Anchor. Also, she is an author and a Columbia Graduate School of Journalism Adjunct Professor at Columbia University. She joined NBC 4 New York in April 2013. Prior to joining the station, she worked at other various broadcasting stations.
Her anchoring and reporting contributed to NBC 4 New York’s award-winning COVID-19 coverage honored in January 2021 with the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for creating a 360 view in real time of the coronavirus pandemic with courageous and thorough reporting on the virus’ explosion in New York City. Since joining NBC 4 New York, she has covered breaking news, and general assignment stories in New Jersey and serves as a fill-in anchor on all of NBC 4 New York’s newscasts. Throughout her career, she has covered many of the Tri-State’s most memorable and powerful stories spanning over two decades. The stories she has covered include; the sudden resignation of New Jersey Governor James McGreevey, Captain Sullenberg’s “Miracle on the Hudson”, the devastation of Superstorm Sandy, and the response to the 2016 New York/New Jersey terror attacks among others.
Also, she is an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University – Graduate School of Journalism since January 2015. There, she teaches broadcast journalism and skills are motivational speaking and public speaking. From October 2002 to January 2013, she was a General Assignment Reporter for abc7NY. Prior to that, she was a General Assignment Reporter at WIXT-TV from October 2001 to October 2002. From July 2000 to October 2001, she was an anchor and reporter at WIVT-TV.
