Jenese Harris Biography
Jenese Harris is an American journalist and meteorologist working for News4JAX as an evening anchor and meteorologist. She joined the station in June 2016 after she worked in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois at WCCU Channel 27 as an evening anchor and reporter.

Harris joined the University of South Florida in 2004 when she finished her high school education. In 2006, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in Communications. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University.

Harris works for News4JAX as an evening anchor and meteorologist. When she was a child, she watched Sesame Street and the local news. At the age of 9, she saw a reflection of herself in then-Detroit anchor, Carmen Harlan when she was watching TV as her mother prepared dinner and her father was at work. Since then, she decided to pursue a career in the news industry.
On August 21, 2022, she made history when she served as the first African American woman meteorologist and the first to present a weather forecast in the Northeast Florida, Southeast Georgia market. Moreover, she has worked as a reporter for multiple local news stations and globally while she was featured on HLN, CNN, Al Jazeera, and Crime Watch for her outstanding journalism.
During her career, she has honed her skill for broadcasting eminent court lawsuits including the Ahmaud Arbery murder investigation and the McMichaels and Bryan murder case for Arbery’s demise, which she covered for 2 years. In addition, she broadcasted the awful slaughter of Cherish Periwinkle after her abduction from a local store.
Harris was a morning anchor for WICD, a position held for 2 years. Also, she served WCCU as an evening anchor and reporter. While there, she worked with Doug Quick to debut a local Fox affiliate. Harris served CBS 2 Chicago and the Local News Service as an assignment editor and field producer. In this role, she broadcasted everything including federal court cases, city council meetings, protests, and celebrity charity occasions.
Befor relocating to Chicago, she worked in Greenville, Mississippi at WABG as an evening anchor, reporter, and producer for the 5, 6, and 10 o’clock evening newscasts. She started her on-screen career in Tampa, Florida where she served WMOR as a TV host for MORE TV 32, a weekly entertainment program.
She first tasted journalism when she was 15 years old. At the time, she worked in her hometown of Detroit at WDET as an intern. Next, she worked as an intern at a local radio station annually before working for the Detroit Free Press as a paid apprentice.
