Kraus exposed the laxity at the Tennessee State Veterans’ Home, triggering the U.S. Department of Justice to command the state to rapidly better conditions at the nursing home. She also showed the concerning unsuccessful rate of a recognized type of smoke detector. Asa result of the report, the Metro Nashville Fire Department declared changes to its detector giveaway program.

Kraus looked into the Veterans Support Organization, making the state fined the VSO $20,000 and commanding it to change the way it procures funds. State lawmakers voted for the ban of novelty lighters in Tennessee after her investigation shed light on its dangers. She uncovered the abuse of handicapped parking permits triggering lawmakers to reinforce the demands to get these special placards.
Her investigation work at WTVF began when she found the top managers at the area warehouse and headquarters of Feed the Children stealing from the charity. Resultantly, the Oklahoma City-based organization then disbanded the whole front office staff and the Nashville District Attorney charged the executive director.
At WTVF, Kraus conducted one of the last interviews with James Earl Ray, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”assassin in prison just before he died, traveled with soldiers from Fort Campbell to Nicaragua and El Salvador after Hurricane Mitch, and was the first to interview convicted serial killer Paul Dennis Reid from his jail cell right after his arrest. Kraus co-anchored WTVF’s live broadcast for more than 10 consecutive hours during the historic flooding in middle Tennessee in May 2010.
