Jennifer Waugh is an American journalist working for News4JAX as an anchor of “The Morning Show” since June 2013. In addition, she serves the station as a reporter for I-Team. Before moving to the morning program, she served the station as anchor for the 5:30, 6:30, and 11 p.m. newscasts Monday through Friday. She joined the station in 1998 as a general assignment reporter.

Waugh joined Boston University’s School of Journalism when she finished her studies at Jacksonville Country Day School and Episcopal High School. She later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree. During her time in college, she studied abroad in Paris and Buenos Aires. While in high school, she played basketball and varsity volleyball. During her time at News4JAX, she has broadcasted many stories, spearheaded the investigative team for two years, and broke multiple exclusive stories surrounding the apprehension and prosecution of three Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office officers who were charged with murder and theft.
Waugh has also broadcasted numerous leading breaking news stories for News4JAX. For instance, she went to Houston during the Space Shuttle Columbia crisis. Moreover, she traced a Jacksonville triple homicide suspect in Mexico and then followed his apprehension to Kentucky.
Her most unforgettable story is the killing of 8-year-old Maddie Clifton. She recalls the morning that she was found in the Lakewood neighborhood. They were shattered to find out she had died despite their hope for her well-being. She did a 60-minute special report about the 10th anniversary of Maddie’s death, which earned her an Emmy. After graduating college, she worked as an assignment editor for WJKS Channel 17 in Jacksonville. She then worked for WBSG Channel 21 as an evening anchor.
During her career, she has won three Edward R. Murrow awards, four Emmy awards, and multiple Associated Press awards. She won an Emmy for the report, Lost At Sea, which recalled the effort of three Jacksonville sailors who clung to life for three days floating in the ocean after the boat they were fishing on capsized. She also won an Edward R. Murrow for the story. She won an Emmy nomination for broadcasting the crisis at Episcopal when the school’s headmaster was shot and murdered.
