Jeremy Strong Education

Upon Strong’s graduation from high school, he did the application for universities with a letter of recommendation from DreamWorks. Ultimately, Strong was accepted at Yale University and was bestowed a scholarship, where he intended to pursue a drama course. There he changed his major to English after finding the professor’s accompanying blackboard illustrations, as well as discussions of Konstantin Stanislavski so estranging.

During his stint at the university, he acted and starred in several plays that were produced via Dramat (the student-run Yale Dramatic Association). While there, he interned with Hoffman’s production company and also studied at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company in Chicago, Illinois, and at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Jeremy Strong Career

Strong’s interest in acting started when he was around 10 years old while living in Sudbury, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He was part of a children’s theater group and used to perform in musicals. One of Strong’s co-stars in the theater group was Chris Evans’s (a famous actor) older sister, and they acted opposite each other in a high school production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.

Strong was inspired by actors like Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, and Daniel Day-Lewis, such that he had posters of their movies on his bedroom wall. He also used to read every interview they gave and follow the news of their careers. He was hired in “The Crucible’s” (a 1996 film) crew – at one point he held up a branch outside a window in a scene filming. Strong has served the Amistad sound crew, where he held a boom mike over Anthony Hopkins while making a speech. He also assisted in editing “Looking for Richard” (Pacino’s directorial debut).

He began his career in acting in college (at Yale University), where he acted in a variety of plays at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Strong’s 1st off-Broadway performance was in the year 2006 when he acted in the film “Defiance”. In the year 2008, he made his Broadway debut when he portrayed Richard Rich, the first Baron Rich revival of the film “A Man for All Seasons”. Also, in the year 201, he made his movie debut in Humboldt County.

Since then, he has been starring in several acclaimed movies where he portrays real-life people like Jerry Rubin in “The Trial of the Chicago 7” (2020), John George Nicolay in “Lincoln” (2012), James Reeb in “Selma” (2014), Brandon in “See Girl Run” (2012), and Thomas in “Zero Dark Thirty” (2012)… just to name a few!

Strong is among the stars of the HBO TV series “Succession” which premiered its 1st season on June 3, 2018. The series has released 3 seasons (last episode of season 3 – Dec 12, 2021), and the 4th season is set to premiere on March 26, 2023.

“Succession” centers on the Roy family, who owns Waystar RoyCo (media conglomerate), as they are battling for the company’s control amid uncertainty about Logan Roy (Brian Cox)’s (the patriarch of the family) health.

His role in the movie “The Big Short” led him to star in “Succession. Strong was originally interested in portraying the role of Roman Roy (the wisecracking youngest son of the family), but after the role was assigned to Kieran Culkin, he did it perfectly! Strong, therefore, had to audition for another part, and he suited the role of Kendall Roy (the middle son). His performance in the role earned him universal acclaim from critics.
