Jodi Unruh is an American journalist working for KCBY/KVAL as an evening anchor. Before transitioning to the evening news, she co-anchored the top-rated morning shows for nearly three years.
Jodi Unruh Education
Unruh joined the University of Oregon in 1984 after finishing her education at Winston Churchill High School. In 1988, she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism. There, she was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and OSU Talons. She furthered her studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she studied TV Journalism.

Unruh founded Jodi Unruh and Associates, LLC, a PR/Marketing company, during her leave from TV. She also served as a member of the PR panel at the University of Oregon, helping mentor graduating seniors. Moreover, she was a successful international team builder and top producer in several wellness companies, traveling to Mexico, South Korea, and Australia.
Unruh launched her broadcasting career in radio at KRVM AND KUGN when she was 16. Before working for KVAL, she worked in entertainment news in Los Angeles, California, for six years. There, she hosted nationally syndicated shows for networks like ESPN.
Following her time in California, Unruh returned to Oregon as an anchor AND reporter in Bend. She worked there for about a year before retruning to her hometown to work for KVAL.
Over the course of her career, Unruh has received many awards, including three First Place awards and honorable mentions for her reporting from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Associated Press. She earned multiple Eugene Register-Guard’s “Best TV Personality” honors.
Unruh has earned leadership awards for her volunteer service from various local organizations, including the Lane County Chapter of American Diabetes, Greenhill Humane Society, and Committed Partners for Youth.
Besides her work on TV, Unruh is a former Miss Oregon USA. She earned a spot in the top 20 in the nationally televised Miss USA pageant on CBS. She also worked as a domestic and international flight attendant for American Airlines right after college, while completing her graduate studies.
